Stefan Nützel

Inspired by the subtle painting of the Balthus, he studied with him in Paris. Balthus then directed him to Italy to be introduced by Caravaggio to light-dark painting. This was followed by a visit to Madrid, where Velasquez brought him the loose brushwork. A further station of his apprenticeship was six years with Johannes Grützke in Nuremberg. With him, Nutzel got to know integrity and courage, and that pictures do not hurt humor. The last section was extensive painting trips with Sargent. This plein air painting brought the light into Nutzels painting. He now lives as a freelance painter in Austria.
