Sinnbilder der chinesischen Kunst – this is the auspicious title of Meizi Wang’s first solo show at FIVE PLUS Art Gallery . Well thought-out, she mixes painting, collage und calligraphy and creates works in coordinated color compositions.
In her works she explores on the central principles of Chinese culture, indirect communication. Symbols for persons of objects often resemble them in form and shape or share certain characteristics with them. They often represent meaning that convey the desire for the good things in life. The Lotus, Symbol of purity, faithfulness, creativity and enlightenment. The bamboo stands for integrity, steadfastness and modesty. The chrysanthemum and plum blossom are symbols of renewal and a long life. Through her art she wants to create a cultural exchange between Austria and China.
Meizi Wang was born in 1968 in Jiangsu China. She completed her studie at the Nanjing Teaching University in China (Bachelor of Arts), and lives and works in Vienna. She regularly holds workshops in her “Showroom22” studio on painting, calligraphy, tea ceremony and Chinese language. Since 2017 she is a member of the IG Bildende Kunst in Österreich.
