Monday, June 4, 2018, 6:30pm
Within the framework of the exhibition “Poesie in Farbe und Metall” with works by Matthias Lidy, a book presentation will take place. Thede Kahl, Professor of Southern Slavic Studies and Southeast European Studies, reads from his 2018 book “Nature and People in the Danube Delta”. The Danubian Delta Biosphere Reserve is the largest wetland in Europe with the largest closed reedbed in the world.
Lisi Nielsen and George Hochmuth, two photojournalists from Austria present photos from their series “Danube Delta”. They accompanied two Romanian professional fishermen. The men must meet strict environmental requirements to ensure a substantial fishery. Since Romania’s accession to the European Union, they have had to compete with cheaper foreign fishing, which makes it difficult for them to keep a stable price.
