November 23 through December 24, 2017 – HIGHLIGHTS
OPENING EVENT: Wednesday, November 22, 2017, 6:30pm
In the presence of the artist Dionis Solo.
DURATION OF THE EXHIBITION: 23. November-24. December 2017
Dionis Solo’s artworks are defined by elements of the “unspoken” and deft mystery, exemplified in his sculptural and photographical works. The IN Series is the expression of the artist’s view on the problems of contemporary society – the indifference, detachment and demise of interpersonal communication. The uniqueness of his sculptures lies not only in the conceptual thought process but also in the artist’s unwavering commitment towards executing the end-to-end process himself. The tension within the figures symbolize the inner battle raging between materialism and spirituality. However, endowing his artworks with an inner strength, the artist’s endeavors to showcase hope and inspire positivity amidst the glaring gloom. Dionis Solo was born in Russia amidst the Cold War and after completing his postgraduate studies at the Glasunov Academy of Arts, he has been engaged in numerous projects across Russia and Continental Europe. He currently lives and works in Vienna.
Francisc Chiuariu’s paintings from the series “View From Above” are a mixture of hyperrealism and fantasy. The human outline, drawn precisely and concretely, emerges from an environment or landscape that dissolves in dynamic areas of color. The FIVE PLUS Art Gallery exhibited some of his works from this series at VIENNA ART WEEK 2017 in Leopold Museum. Francisc Chiuariu was born in 1966 in Sibiu, Romania and studied painting at the National University of Arts Romania. From 1993 to 2000 he was a teacher at the same university. He lives and works in Bucharest, Romania. His artworks were exhibited in France, Israel, Great Britain, Russia, Romania and Austria.
